Newsletter 26th June

P7 Bring and Buy Sale
Thank you to all who came along and supported this fundraiser £117.12 was made and has helped with the cost of the bus to Kingswood.

Parent Council
The Parent Council AGM will be held on Thursday 24th August at 6pm in the P5-7 classroom. There will be three vacant positions:
Vice Chair – currently vacant
Secretary – Fran Cowan will be stepping down at the AGM Fundraising Co-ordinator – currently vacant The position of Vice Chair is especially important as the current Chair, Kate Rutherford, will be stepping down at the end of the 2017-18 school year.

Smarties Challenge
The Smarties Challenge raised the grand total of £232 pounds for IT equipment for the school Thank you so much to all the families that took part.

Farewell
We say goodbye and thank you to Mrs Sanders and Mrs Maltman this week and thank them both for all of their dedication and hard work over the years, leading learning and teaching and supporting the children and staff at Ayton Primary School. We wish Mrs Maltman a wonderful retirement after many years teaching in Berwickshire and Mrs Sanders good wishes as she continues in her career in education and leadership.

Coldingham Gala day is on Sunday 30th July 12noon – 6pm at Coldingham playing field. £3 per adult £1.50 child/cons. £7 per family of 2 adults and 2 children under 5’s go free. Kids fancy dress competition too and free entry to those children in fancy dress.

Newsletter 19th June

Sports day
Well done to all the children who took part in Sports Day. They had a wonderful time and we were lucky with the weather. Thanks to the Parent Council who provided some of the ice cream for the children and AG Ices too. Thanks also to Miss Bridgewater who organised the events and to the helpers from the High School.

Rag bag
Next collection is 27th June, bags sent home with pupils today. Please fill with unwanted clothes, shoes, bags and belts. Thank you

Library van
The van will be here on Thursday, please return all books.

Leavers assembly
The P7 leavers assembly is on Tuesday 27th June at 9am in the school hall.

P7 Bring and Buy Sale
On Thursday 22nd June P7 pupils are organising a Bring and Buy Sale from 3.10 -4.10pm as a fundraiser for the cost of the bus to Kingswood.

Any donations of toys/books/baking/dvd’s etc will be gratefully received. You are all welcome to come along on the day.

Newsletter 12th June

Sports day

Sports day will be this Thursday at 9am. All family and friends welcome. AG Ices will be here as one parent won a competition to have free ice creams for the pupils in her child’s school. Well done Kerrie Shiells and thank you

 

New P1 Parents Meeting

New P1 pupils will visit on Tuesday from 2-3.10pm and there will be an information evening for parents on Thursday 15th June at 6pm. Mrs Sanders will answer any questions you may have.

 

P6 Trip to Coldingham Priory

The P6s had a really enjoyable trip to Coldingham Priory last week where they learned all about life as a medieval monk. They tried out all sorts of activities from making clay tiles to dressing up as monks and mixing up herbs to cure ailments. Thanks to the Berwickshire Christian Youth Trust and Coldingham community for organising this cluster event.

 

P7 Residential

The P7s had a fantastic time at Kingswood, you will no doubt have heard about all their adventures. A huge thanks to Mr Fryer and Laura Simm for accompanying them on the trip. Both said that our children behaved impeccably and were a credit to their school

 

Drama Club

This Thursday is the last drama club for the term; it will be on until 4pm. Please note earlier finishing time

Beanburn Masterplan Public Consultation event will take place in Ayton Primary on Tuesday 27th June from 4-8pm.

Newsletter 5th June

P7 Kingswood
The pupils had a great time at Kingswood, thank you to Mr Fryer for accompanying them.

P6 Pupils Priory Visit
On Tuesday 6th June pupils in P6 are invited to Coldingham Priory, pupils have been given an EV2 form to complete and return to school asap. Please wear school uniform and bring a packed lunch, travel is by bus and in school time.

School uniform
We now order uniform online through Border Embroideries. Please use the link below to take you directly to the page for Ayton Primary School uniform. Deliveries to school are free and take 3-4 weeks. If your order does not arrive before the end of term you can call into school on the in-service day as Border Embroideries do deliveries on that day. Missing ice packs
Please have a look at home as we think perhaps some children may have taken an ice pack home, we have 3 missing from school. Thank you

Sports day
Sports day will be held on Thursday 15th June at 9am. If cancelled due to inclement weather it will be rescheduled on Thursday 22nd June at 9am.

Leavers assembly
The P7 leavers assembly will be held on Tuesday 27th June at 9am. All welcome!

Film at the hall
Pupils will enjoy an end of term treat with a film at Ayton community hall on the last afternoon of term 28th June.

Newsletter 30th May

P7 Kingswood

The bus will leave at 9.15am for Kingswood on Wednesday 31st May and will return at approximately 3.15pm on Friday 2nd June.

Plant Sale

Mrs Chapman and the gardening club will be holding plant sales on the following times:

  • Sports day 15th June
  • Leavers assembly 27th June

There are courgettes, tomatoes, cucumber and also flowers available.

Smarties Challenge

This is the last week for the Smarties Challenge, please get your Smarties tubes back by Friday so that we can award certificates at Assembly next Tuesday. The board in the dining room is full of good ideas if your children need any last minute inspiration.

Ayton and District Churches would like to remind you of a special service this Sunday 4th June, in Ayton Church at 11am. A warm invitation is given to all who were married or baptised (or both!) in Ayton Church as part of the 150th anniversary of the building.
